ArcelorMittal needs to commission a trophy design for multiple manufacture and subsequent presentation to the winners. • The design should be modern, contemporary, visually fascinating. • Probably abstract / suggestive rather than figurative / literal. • It should suggest the brand promise and values of the company. • Avoid clichés - no globes, no molten steel, no 3D interpretations of the logo. • The design should be somehow conceptually relevant to ArcelorMittal. If it were felt that the designs might work equally well for a competing steel company running a similar awards scheme then the chances are that the design is not right. • One of the materials used should be steel (it could be the sole material). The steel should come from ArcelorMittal. • The trophies must be capable of being given by one individual to another on stage. Therefore weight, size etc are issues. • The trophies will need to look good in a variety of environments which will vary enormously. Therefore the visual success of the trophies cannot rely on external factors such as lighting. • The trophies will need to carry an inscription showing the company logo and naming the award category and the winners. The typographic design of the inscriptions must conform to the brand guidelines. • The inscriptions do not need to be immediately visible (they could for example be underneath the trophies). • From the master design, it should be possible to make replicas on an ongoing basis every year (in the style of the Oscars). This naturally implies that the production method should be casting, although we are open to suggestions of other techniques provided that ongoing identical production is possible. |
